8MS User Guide
Switch Company

This function allows 8MS users to switch between companies on an 8MS platform.

In the menu frame, select the Switch Company link located in the System Admin section of the menu. The following will appear in the workspace frame:

A company may have one or more sub-companies under it's control. Each sub-company may also have sub-companies. In this manner, a parent/child hierarchy of companies is formed. A parent company has the ability to manage data for any sub-company under it's control, regardless of whether it is a direct parent, parent of a parent, and so on. A child company may never access it's parent's data.

The Switch Company screen provides a hierarchical scrolling box of Companies, starting at the level of your Company. Each reseller shows a down-arrow to indicate it's sub-companies are showing and a right-arrow to indicate it has sub-companies but they are not showing. In the screenshot shown above, the top-level company is csf Corporation. Sub-companies directly under that company include:

GAF Corporation, while a sub-company of csf Corporation, is also a Reseller. GAF Corporation has two sub-companies:

To view all sub-companies under a reseller company, click on the and the list will expand. To hide all sub-companies under a reseller company, click on the and the list will collapse.

When a reseller needs to manage data for one of it's sub-companies, they would use this screen to become a member of that sub-company. To do this, select the company from the scrolling box (if the company is a reseller, avoid clicking the arrow) and then select the button. Your login remains the same, but your company is now the selected sub-company. You can confirm this by scrolling to the top of the 8MS menu, where you will see your company name and login. The example below shows the login and company before switching to GAF Corporation and afterwards.

When you switch companies, this action is only remembered for this session. If you log out and log back in, you will revert back to your original company.
