8MS User Guide
Configuring ROC Access

This document describes the steps required to configure an 8MS customer for the ROC feature.

8MS Customer
  1. The 8MS customer must have a Somos login with ROC permission. If you already such a login, you may use that login. If your login does not have ROC permission, you may have ROC permission added to that login. However, we strongly recommend that you do not use that login and instead create a new login that is dedicated to use within 8MS.

Somos uses password aging when you log onto their system. Should you choose to use the same Somos login for both 8MS ROC transactions and for logging onto Somos, at some point you will log onto the Somos web site and be forced to change your password. When this happens, you will also need to update that password on 8MS or ROC requests from 8MS will fail. If you have separate logins for your Somos work and for 8MS ROC API, you will never have to deal with password aging, since Somos does not enforce password aging from API users.

By convention we recommend that you use your '01' Resp Org followed by 'ROC'. For example

    Entity AR
    Resp Org ART01
    Somos Login ART01ROC
  2. You can download the ROC Access form from the 8MS User Interface. Go to the Documentation page and select the ROC Access link. Download the pdf, print it and follow the instructions below on how to fill it in. You must fill in one form for each Entity in your Somos company.

    1. Check the Request Access checkbox.
    2. Enter your initials in the field labeled Initial here to change one or more specific User IDs with ROC Access Permissions for your Entity.
    3. In the section labeled User IDs you may enter your User ID for this Entity in the field labeled List the existing Somos User IDs below but, again, we strongly recommend that you do not use existing Somos logins.
    4. In the section labeled User Information fill in your Resp Org ID and other contact information. For the User ID field, as noted above, we strongly recommend that you use the string ROC rather than your initials.
    5. On the bottom of the form, enter values for the fields: Authorized Person's Wet Signature, Authorized Person's Printed Name, Company Name, Email, and Date.
  3. Email the form to 8mscust@iconectiv.com CSF will forward this on to Somos. If you use the User Information section of the form to request a new id, Somos will email you when the new id has been created. That email will include a temporary password. You should log in to Somos with this id and immediately change your password. You are now ready to configure 8MS ROC with that new login and password.
  4. Add your SMS/800 login to 8MS to enable ROC requests.
The following step should only be done after the 8MS Support Team has submitted the form to Somos and the Somos help desk has processed the form.

From the 8MS User Interface, under the System Admin menu, go to the ROC Admin screen.

Enter the SMS/800 user id and password next to the appropriate Entity and select the Update button. Your login and encrypted password will be saved. To verify that your login and password are valid and activated at Somos, click the Verify All Saved Credentials button at the bottom of the screen. This will send a ROC message to Somos. If the login is not activated or the password is incorrect, an error message will be displayed.

8MS Support Team
  1. Upon receiving the scanned document, submit a special request to Somos.
    1. Log in to portal.somos.com
    2. Select Submit Requests, then Special Request
    3. Enter a description like 'Please add ROC API access for the entity XX. See the attached form.
    4. Select Continue and attach the scanned form.
