Service Area Field Definitions |

The Service Area defines the regions from which a toll-free number can receive calls. The Service Area may be associated directly with a toll-free number via the Record Management: SMS CAD screen or by pointing at an SMS Template via the Record Management: SMS PAD screen, in which case the Service Area is defined in the Template Management screen. The Service Area section of the Record Management: SMS CAD screen appears as follows:

| State | This field allows you to define an area of service based state, using a comma-separated list of two-letter state abbreviations. |
| Area Code | This field allows you to define an area of service NPA, using a comma separated-list of three digit area codes. |
| LATA | This field allows you to define an area of service LATA, using a comma-separated list of three digit LATA codes. |
| Labels | This field allows you to use a comma-separated list of Area of Service labels. These label names must be previously defined in SMS/800. SMS does not provide a means by which 8MS can create Area of Service labels. |
